1903 Stanley Steamer Solid Seat Runabout
•Car's design was improved by placing the engine toward the rear connecting directly to the differential thus replacing the often-troublesome chain drive. (Simplified car and improved weight balance)
•All body parts made by hand due to the odd curvature.
•Stanley boiler and burner could raise 250 pounds of steam from cold water in about 5 minutes.
•The Stanley Steamer is the most famous and longest-lived steam car in the world.
•This car was Sterling Elliott’s first car. He worked with the Stanley Brothers on its design.
