1953 Briggs Cunningham C-3 Continental Cabriolet
• The C-3 Chassis was built in a West Palm Beach, FL airplane hangar, shipped to Carrozzeria Vignale of Turin, Italy where the Vignale built bodywork was installed. The car was then shipped back to West Palm for engine installation, final testing and sale.
• Thirty C-3s were built, with the Elliott's being one of only five cabriolets ever made.
• Shown at the 1953 New York Auto Show
• No two cars are identical. Beginning from scratch, Cunningham used Ford and Chrysler components- the steering column is modified Dodge, the transmission comes from Chrysler, mufflers are Chevrolet, rear coil springs Buick, brakes combined Mercury, Ford, Chrysler, front suspension Ford, front parking lights are 1951 Mercury backup lights.
