Local TV stations such as WPTV http://www.wptv.com/dpp/news/region_martin_county/stuart-museum-to-close and WPBF http://www.wpbf.com/video/27390558/detail.html also announced the closing ceremonies to the public.

For nearly 50 years on Florida’s Treasure Coast, one destination has celebrated imagination, history and innovation:   The Elliott Museum.

Today, this valued institution is at an exciting juncture in its own history.  As never before, it is positioned to become a key educational and entertainment venue, drawing visitors throughout the region, the nation and the world.

The new Elliott, to be built on the museum’s current site, will virtually double the space of the existing facility.  The quantity and quality of the museum’s exhibits will also be enhanced, placing the Elliott on par with renowned regional and national museums.  Select highlights of the award-winning facility’s design include:

  • Dynamic, engaging and interactive exhibits designed to appeal to all ages and interests.

  • Innovative use of digital audio and video technology throughout, including tours via podcasting.

  • A multiple-use, flexible gallery space for traveling art exhibits and special events.
  • An in-house theater featuring multimedia presentations.

  • The largest area for catered events in MartinCounty.

  • The Frances Langford Outrigger Café, an ocean view dining venue featuring exhibits of Langford memorabilia.

In keeping with its innovation theme, the new Elliott will be constructed for environmental sustainability, incorporating eco-friendly features into its design and operation.  Its extensive climate and UV controls will ensure the preservation of the Elliott’s valuable collections for generations to come.  The building will also be hurricane-resistant, designed to withstand 180 mph winds.

As we build for tomorrow, we will continue the ElliottMuseum’s tradition of preserving our region’s past, celebrating innovation and providing inspiration for the future.  Visit the Capital Campaign to learn how you can be a part of this exciting time in the Elliott’s history!
